Today I am trying to make sense of different causes and effects of glucose readings. I know–you might think it is pretty obvious–too much exercise, too much insulin, or not enough food will cause a low blood sugar. And yet certain times when I have a low reading, I am perfectly fine. Other times when my blood sugar may not even be that low, I am in trouble!
The other day right before dinner I checked my blood sugar and it was 26. Seems pretty low, right? But I was perfectly fine, lucid and in control of myself. I ate and my blood sugar came up. There was another day that I had a blood sugar of 62 and I could barely stand.
Basically what I am asking, is for other type 1 diabetics to share some of their experiences with me. Have there been times when you were surprised at how low your sugar was without any ill effects? Or when you weren’t so low, but were totally out of it, as if you were extremely low? Does anyone have any explanations or answers to these questions? Please leave comments and tell me of your experiences with this subject. I would appreciate any input offered and I am sure other diabetics will appreciate that they are not alone in these experiences.
